Ala\u00efa Bay hosts the opening event of the Wavepool Surf Tour<\/h1>\n

Ala\u00efa Bay is proud to host the first event of the Wavepool Surf Tour, marking the beginning of a new international chapter in competitive wavepool surfing.<\/p>\n

\"Surfing<\/p>\n

When Ala\u00efa Bay opened beneath the Swiss Alps in 2021, it demonstrated that world-class surfing was no longer limited to the ocean. Five years later, the venue has become one of Europe\u2019s best-known wavepool destinations, welcoming everyone from first-time surfers to elite athletes.<\/p>\n

Powered by Wavegarden Cove technology<\/strong>, Ala\u00efa Bay has established itself as a centre for progression, coaching, high-performance training and international events. It is therefore a natural venue for the launch of a competition created specifically for the wavepool era.<\/p>\n

\n

The Ala\u00efa Surf Challenge<\/h2>\n

Starting on 1 August 2026<\/strong>, surfers will submit their best rides using Surf Eye Technology<\/strong>. Their performances will be judged to establish the first rankings of the inaugural Wavepool Surf Tour season.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

A new competitive format<\/h2>\n

Unlike traditional surf competitions that depend on changing ocean conditions, the Wavepool Surf Tour introduces a consistent and accessible format built around modern wavepool technology.<\/p>\n

The concept gives more surfers the opportunity to compete internationally while maintaining a strong focus on performance, progression and community.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Hosting the opening event reflects Ala\u00efa Bay\u2019s role in the evolution of inland surfing. A world-class surf destination in the heart of Switzerland may once have seemed improbable. Today, Ala\u00efa Bay attracts surfers from across Europe and beyond, showing how surfing can expand beyond traditional coastlines without losing its identity.<\/p>\n
